Our church is actively involved in Mission Outreach. Our projects have reached organizations and individuals in our own community as well as touching individuals in various locations around the world.
If you are interested in joining this Team, please contact Doris, Chairperson or the Church Office.
We want to give a big THANK YOU to all who participated in “Clean out
Your Pantry”. As a result of your generosity, we were able to deliver
approximately 175 pounds of miscellaneous food items to the Salvation
Army to help stock their pantry.
As promised last month, a general summary of our giving to various
recipients during 2025 is as follows:
Virgin Valley Food Bank– 1st Sunday food collection continued. There were
occasional monetary donations by individuals, along with $200 through
our missions group, 86 hygiene bags, and 40 hats delivered to them the
week before Christmas to give to children of food recipients that week.
SafeNest – $450 cash donation, 7 hats, 10 fleece blankets, and 3 quilts
Victim Advocacy (Mesquite Police Dept.) – 12 emergency hygiene kits for women, 8 owl comfort
pillows, and 2 large fleece blankets
Southern Nevada Adult Behavioral Health Walk-in Center – 45 hygiene kits, 12 hats, and 4 cases
of water
Salvation Army – 60 sturdy tote bags, 1 sleeping mat, 86 hygiene kits, 20 hats We supported
their food pantry through two separate food drives: The dry cereal collection last spring netted
86 boxes of cereal and $20 cash. Collections of Mac & Cheese and Ramen noodles in the fall
brought in 53 boxes of Mac & Cheese, 4 dozen Ramen Noodle cups, 10 dozen Ramen Noodle
soup packets.
Mesquite Christian Academy – Through missions we donated one box of copy paper, 4 hats, and
$1,150. Other church groups may have made donations as well but I do not have a record of
these at this time.
Beaver Dam Elementary School – Many small containers of “Slime” went to their librarian to use
as a reading incentive. We gave them 150 headphones to be used by the students during their
classes and 100 hats went to them last November.
Mesquite Animal Shelter – Last spring we collected two large tubs of towels for them to use as
cage bedding. We have stored these until we get the word that they have completed their
expansion and have room to store them.
Chamber of Commerce/SafeNest – set of 6 holiday place mats were donated for the Chamber’s
fundraiser for SafeNest last October.
California flood relief – 50 hygiene bags
Navajo Water Project under the direction of DIP DEEP – developing water wells in remote areas of
the Navajo Indian Reservation – $300.
Local elementary schools in Mesquite and Bunkerville each received 100
hats made by our Prayer Shawl Group.
Four Corners Native American Ministry – 36 hat/scarf sets
St. Joseph Indian School, Chamberlain, South Dakota – 100 hats
St. Labre’ Indian School, Ashland, Montana – 2 large boxes of hats and
scarves totaling at least 100 hats with about 40 having scarves to match
plus 2 head bands
Samaritan’s Purse Operation Christmas Child Shoebox Project – Our church sent a total of 142
completed boxes plus $900 to help with shipping costs.
UMCOR – $7,028 was collected for UMCOR through special collections. $1,000 was donated
through missions. Besides the collection on UMCOR Sunday that helps to fund administrative
costs for the year, the other special collections were for flood relief in different parts of the U.S.
The United Women in Faith continued sponsorship of a girl in Haiti through Love-a-Child.
Methodist Men’s group continued sponsorship of a boy in Uganda through the Canadian
missionaries named Martin with their international ministry.
The entire church family has been very busy
and productive making, collecting, and
working on MISSION PROJECTS this past
year. I am sure there are a few more items to
be added to this list, but as you can see, we
had a very busy 2025! Thank you all again for
your participation as we worked together to
touch lives locally, regionally, and globally.
